Media Work 2030

An interdisciplinary approach to media work in the age of digital disruption.

The research

Digital disruption is not a challenge only for media organisations – but for individual media workers too

The Media Work 2030 project studies media work and media professionals as actors in the digital media environment. The project was funded by the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation for the years 2019–2022.

The project brought together several research traditions, such as media and communication studies, social and public policy research, sociology, psychology, and brain research, in a unique, interdisciplinary way.

Research group

The interdisciplinary team came from three departments in two universities in Finland: University of Jyväskylä and Tampere University.
